My heart sank when I read the subject of your message, Ron. That leaves
a big hole in my musical life. John was scheduled to appear at the
Regattabar in Cambridge in January. We had tickets for both sets, but
were informed a few days before that the shows had been canceled due to
illness. I held out hope that he would bounce back. I'm certainly glad
I had numerous opportunities to hear him live over the years. Someone
who played as beautifully as he did deserves to rest peacefully.

How disappointing Lynn, great that you had chances to hear him over the years. Living in Vancouver, I only heard him twice - in the mid-70s with Jack Dejohnette and about 10 years ago with Charles Lloyd. He was my favorite of the fusion-style guitarists. RIP John.
